The center serves as an information/rest center for visitors to Raleigh's state-owned cultural and historic attractions. The staff provides free brochures, maps and a slide presentation about Raleigh and can schedule tours of area attractions with advance notice.

North Carolina State Capital
 
Built between 1833 and 1840, this National Historic Landmark is one of the best-preserved examples of a civic building in the Greek Revival style of architecture. It originally housed the governor's office, cabinet offices, legislative chambers, state library and state geologist's office.

North Carolina State Legislative Building
 
Home of the North Carolina General Assembly, the building is unique because it is devoted solely to the legislative branch of state government. Throughout the building, provisions are made for easy public access and observation of the legislative process.

North Carolina Excutive Mansion
 
This fine Victorian-style mansion, home to N.C. governors since 1891, once was described by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt as having "the most beautiful governor's residence interior in America." Built from native North Carolina materials, it has been occupied by 26 governors' families.

North Carolina State Archives
 
The State Archives preserves original and microfilm records of the colony and state of North Carolina from 1663 to the present. This includes state agency and county records, private manuscript collections, maps, photographs and other documentary evidence that are available for research.

Located in the Historic 1874 Brigs Hardware Building in the heart of Downtown Raleigh. The Raleigh City Museum's first floor exhibition gallery or lower level classroom are both unique settings for recpetions, luncheons, or buiness meetings.

North Carolina Museum of Art 
 
The North Carolina Museum of Art houses a permanent collection of works spanning 5,000 years of artistic heritage. Changing exhibitions enrich visitors' experiences in three additional gallery areas. Special events can be held in the Museum Cafe or north dining room; food service required. Tours of the museum can be arranged during the special event.
 

Directions From East or South of Raleigh  (or See Map from downtown)
Take I-40 East that circles Raleigh around the south end. Get off I-40 at exit 289 back towards Raleigh and Wade Ave. Follow Wade Ave. to the Blue Ridge Road exit, and take this exit. Turn left onto Blue Ridge Road. The Museum is on the right. Look for a large granite marker with flags.
